Nintendo's annual September Direct happened yesterday, September 9, 2026, and it was a big one. Running about 45 minutes, the showcase covered a massive slate of Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games heading to shelves this winter and into 2027. The presentation opened with Monster Hunter Wilds and included live gameplay during Nintendo Treehouse: Live immediately after the Direct. If you missed the stream, here's the full rundown.

The Big Headlines

Monster Hunter Wilds — Nintendo Switch 2 — December 4, 2026. The flagship showcase of the Direct. Local multiplayer is supported. The Ascendance expansion releases in 2027. Preorders are available now — this is the one to watch.

Final Fantasy VII got a double announcement: Revelation — Nintendo Switch 2 — April 8, 2027 (preorders start today), and Reunion — Nintendo Switch 2 — releasing today, September 9 (later today) on the eShop. The Crisis Core prequel drops today.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Definitive Edition — Nintendo Switch 2 — February 25, 2027. Bundles all expansion pass content plus a new hardest difficulty, Calamity Mode. Nintendo Switch owners get a discount and can transfer saves. Preorders begin later today.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam — Nintendo Switch 2 — December 10, 2026. Features what Nintendo calls the "biggest" mystery in the series.

Star Fox — Nintendo Switch 2 — September 30, 2026 (free update). Adds three-player local battle mode, three new battle mode stages, and four-player online.

Star Fox Adventure — Nintendo GameCube — September 9, 2026 (Nintendo Classics). Available via Nintendo Classics later today.

Pokopia Part 2 Paid DLC — Nintendo Switch 2 — later this year. Adds accessories including sunglasses and bowties, plus new Pokémon: Sylveon, Doduo, and Braixen.

Wrap-Up

Yesterday's Nintendo Direct was one of the biggest September showcases in recent memory — roughly 45 minutes covering Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games across the winter season and well into 2027.
