Lime Ridge Mall is running Mall-O-Ween on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, bringing indoor trick-or-treating back to Hamilton's Mountain for a second year. The three-hour evening event runs from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm across the mall at 999 Upper Wentworth Street, with registration opening at $5 per child and advance booking required because spots are limited.
The mall's own listing frames it as its second annual Mall-O-Ween, and an identical event ran on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the same hours and address. What is new this year sits below the surface details: the programme has been widened. Registration covers safe indoor trick-or-treating through participating stores, along with entertainment, character meet and greets, and Halloween activities for children.
Every dollar raised goes to MacKids, the fundraising organization that supports McMaster Children's Hospital. The mall states that all proceeds from registration benefit MacKids, which in turn funds life-changing care for children and families across the region — making this one of the few shopping-centre Halloween events where the entry fee is a donation rather than a ticket price in the ordinary sense.
The $5 fee is per child and buys more than entry. Registered families receive a trick-or-treat tote bag, a $5.00 Lime Ridge Mall gift card, and access to the Mall-O-Ween activities and entertainment — so in practical terms the registration fee is refunded as store credit on arrival.
The mall is explicit that the event is not shut to anyone who has not pre-registered. Families who arrive without booking are still welcome to trick-or-treat throughout the mall and can make a donation to MacKids on the spot. What registration adds is the tote bag, the gift card and the event inclusions, which is a meaningfully different experience from simply walking the corridors with a bucket on Halloween.
Lime Ridge has been a fixture on the Mountain since September 13, 1981, and is the largest mall complex in Hamilton — two levels, roughly 815,000 square feet and around 180 stores. It has changed hands recently: Primaris Real Estate Investment Trust bought the property from Cadillac Fairview in June 2025 for $416 million, and the centre dropped the CF prefix to revert to the Lime Ridge name. The mall has also lost an anchor tenant since, with Hudson's Bay closing in 2025, and has Walmart Canada opening a store in 2027.
Timing matters for anyone planning around it. The event lands on the Wednesday before the weekend, which separates it from the Saturday and Sunday trick-or-treating most malls run. It also sits alongside Lime Ridge's Fall Harvest Market, which runs every Saturday and Sunday through October and includes a hay maze, pumpkin bowling, bouncy castles, face painting, train rides, costume contests and a beer garden. Because Mall-O-Ween is indoors and indoors is guaranteed, it also holds up if the weather turns — the appeal is the same whether or not the forecast cooperates.
Not yet confirmed: which stores will take part in trick-or-treating, whether participating retailers will identify themselves in their windows, the specific entertainment and character appearances, and how many child places remain. The mall has not published a capacity figure and has not said when registration closes.
