EB Games Canada's Toronto flagship will host Nintendo's first shop-within-a-shop format in North America when it opens Oct. 17.

EB Games Canada's flagship store at 267 Yonge Street in Toronto will become the home of Nintendo's first store-within-a-store in North America. The 1,500-square-foot space officially opens on Saturday, October 17, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.

The permanent store will carry Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and software, playable demos, merchandise and photo opportunities. It will also carry Nintendo's My Mario product line for young children, with some of those items exclusive to EB Games in Canada.

The format is worth distinguishing from a standalone Nintendo Store. The United States currently has two dedicated Nintendo retail locations, in New York City and San Francisco, but neither is a shop-within-a-shop operating inside another retailer's space. Toronto's will be the first of that specific type in North America.

The partnership comes roughly a year after EB Games Canada was acquired from GameStop by Montreal-based entrepreneur Stephan Tetrault, who is also a co-owner of McFarlane Toys. Under the new ownership the retailer returned to the EB Games Canada name and said it would blend familiar elements with a refreshed retail approach.

The timing overlaps with Nintendo's published release schedule heading into the holiday season. Games already released in 2026 include Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Mario Tennis Fever, Pokémon Pokopia and a Star Fox remake. Still to come are Nintendo Switch Sports Resort on October 22 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on November 5. A Zelda-themed edition of the Switch 2 console is scheduled for October 29, and according to the source report, preorders for that edition have already sold out.
