PlayStation is refusing to walk back its reported plan to end physical game disc production in 2028.

Speaking publicly, Sony leadership said the company had deliberately reviewed the shift before committing to it.

“We put in a lot of thought and time, and we cautiously considered this, and we came to this conclusion, and we’re going to cautiously move this forward.”

The statement signals the company intends to stay course on the timeline, even as fans and retailers have raised concerns about physical media disappearing from the PlayStation ecosystem.
