EB Games Reveals Toronto Nintendo Space, Confirms eShop Gift Card Offers
EB Games Canada has shared the first look inside its 1,500-square-foot Nintendo space at 267 Yonge Street ahead of the October 17 opening, and confirmed two opening-day eShop gift card offers worth up to $100.
EB Games Canada pulled back the curtain on its new Nintendo space on October 16, one day before the location opens to the public, releasing the first photos from inside the 1,500-square-foot retail area at the company’s flagship store at 267 Yonge Street in downtown Toronto. In a press release announcing the first look, EB Games described the space as Nintendo’s first-ever store-within-a-store in North America, and confirmed it will open Saturday, October 17 at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The photos show what shoppers can expect: bright red Nintendo Switch 2 counters and game displays, a Mario figure emerging from a green pipe as a centrepiece, playable demo stations along one side of the room, and a merchandise section stocked with plush toys and collectibles. EB Games says the space brings together Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and software, Nintendo-themed displays and merchandise, and playable demo systems in one dedicated area rather than spread across the store floor.
Part of that merchandise is exclusive to this location. EB Games confirmed that a selection of My Mario items will be sold in the space, including the My Mario Mario & Friends Wood Block set, which the retailer says is exclusive to the Toronto Nintendo space. The first-look photos also showed shelves of plush characters including Pikachu, Kirby, Snorlax and Mario, along with a dedicated Zelda display.
EB Games has not confirmed which games will be playable at the demo stations on opening day, so fans hoping to try a specific title should keep that in mind before making the trip.
Two eShop gift card offers on opening day
The bigger draw for opening day may be the promotions, which EB Games and Nintendo Canada have now both confirmed. On October 17 only, shoppers at the EB Games Yonge & Dundas location can receive:
- A $50 Nintendo eShop gift card when they spend $200 or more on Nintendo products, or
- Two $50 Nintendo eShop gift cards — $100 in eShop credit — when they buy a Nintendo Switch 2 system.
The full terms, posted on Nintendo Canada’s retail offers page, spell out the fine print. The offer is valid October 17, 2026, in-store only at the EB Games Yonge & Dundas location and is not available online, while supplies last. Gift cards are handed out on a first-come, first-served basis, and a minimum purchase of $200 before taxes is required to qualify for the standard gift with purchase. The offer is non-stackable — qualifying purchases are eligible for one offer only, and gift cards will not accumulate with increased spend — with a limit of one gift card offer per customer. A Nintendo Switch 2 system purchase qualifies for two $50 gift cards in place of the standard offer. Nintendo notes the offer is subject to change or cancellation without notice.
EB Games Canada framed the opening as part of a broader shift toward experience-led retail. “We’re continuing to evolve EB Games around what matters most to today’s fans,” said Stéphan Tétrault, owner and CEO of EB Games Canada. “We believe in creating retail experiences where people can do more than shop — they can play, discover and connect with the brands they love.”
Nintendo executives echoed that. “This space shows what’s possible when we work closely with our retail partners to create something distinctly Nintendo,” said Devon Pritchard, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America. Susan Pennefather, vice president and general manager of Nintendo of Canada, called bringing the concept to Toronto “incredibly special.”
The space is designed to change over time. EB Games says it “will continue to evolve alongside Nintendo’s latest releases, giving people reasons to return and check out what’s new,” though no specific updates have been announced yet. The retailer operates more than 170 stores across Canada.
This story follows our earlier coverage of the store-within-a-store announcement on October 6 and Nintendo Canada’s October 14 opening announcement. It is worth noting the format is different from a dedicated Nintendo Store: Nintendo operates standalone stores in New York City and San Francisco, while this is a branded area inside an existing EB Games location.
For Toronto fans, the practical takeaway is simple. The Nintendo space opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, and the eShop gift card promotions are limited to that location, that day, and while supplies last. Given the promotions and the novelty of Nintendo’s first North American store-within-a-store, an early arrival is likely to pay off.
