Fact-Checking Policy

Primary sources

We prefer primary sources: official statements, public records, and direct quotes. Social media is treated as a primary source only when the account is verified or independently identifiable.

Unverified claims

Unverified claims are not presented as fact. We label speculation, rumors, and anonymous sourcing clearly so readers can judge reliability.

Numbers and statistics

Figures are checked against original reports or datasets when possible. Rounding, estimates, and projections are labeled.

Correction trigger

When fact-checking changes a story, we update the article and note the change. Persistent errors lead to broader review of the story and related coverage.
