Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, the Paris-set animated superhero series, is getting its first live-action television adaptation. See-Saw Films, the Oscar- and Emmy-winning company behind Slow Horses and Heartstopper, is partnering with Miraculous Corp on the series, with the two companies co-producing. Variety reported the deal exclusively on October 8, 2026.

The two firms are both part of Mediawan. Miraculous Corp is a joint venture formed in 2024 between Mediawan and Zag Entertainment, the studio founded by Jeremy Zag, who co-created the animated series with Thomas Astruc and Nathanaël Bronn. Zag had already confirmed in September that a live-action version was moving forward and that producers and writers were already in place.

Emme Hoy is adapting the series. She was a writer and co-executive producer on season two of See-Saw's thriller Sweetpea for Sky and Starz, and has written episodes of the BBC's upcoming espionage series Honey. She also serves as an executive producer on the live-action project, alongside Maria Nicholson, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Simon Gillis and Ben Irving for See-Saw, with Nicky Earnshaw as co-producer. Mediawan Rights handles worldwide sales.

The producers have been explicit that this is a reset rather than a transcription. Nicholson said the series is aimed at building something with the emotional intimacy of a great romance and the scale of an epic superhero story, and that live action gives the material room to breathe. Heath Kenny, chief content officer at Miraculous Corp, called it a defining next step designed both for the existing fanbase and for audiences meeting the world for the first time. The stated ambition is to reach a broader and older audience without losing the children who grew up with the show.

The scale of what is being adapted is considerable. The animated series debuted on French television in 2015 and is distributed by Mediawan Kids & Family in more than 150 countries, airing on the Disney Channel, Disney+, Netflix, Globo and TF1. It is currently in its sixth season, having recently ranked first among more than 850 school-age titles tracked worldwide by Parrot Analytics, and season seven is scheduled for a late 2026 launch. There have been earlier live-action stage and special projects, but this is the franchise's first full live-action television series.

See-Saw has been on a run. Slow Horses season six is streaming on Apple TV with seasons seven and eight recommissioned, Heartstopper concluded with Heartstopper Forever for Netflix, and the feature film Tenzing arrives later this month. The company is also developing a live-action film series based on Michael Ende's The Neverending Story. In 2026 it was named the top independent production company in the UK in Broadcast's annual indie survey.

For Zag, the live-action project is one strand of a wider expansion. The studio is also developing Melody, an animated feature with Katy Perry attached, having moved to Los Angeles specifically to build Miraculous into a global franchise drawn from American superhero conventions. Zag was named Deadline's French TV Disruptor for 2026. The animated series has already had live-action stage productions and specials in several markets, but those were event pieces rather than a scripted series built for television.

Not yet confirmed: there is no casting, and no release date or episode order has been announced. Marinette and Adrien remain the central characters of the adaptation, but which part of the animated continuity it will follow has not been set out.
