He-Man: Dragon Pearl of Destruction Gets a February 4, 2027 Release Date
Limited Run Games and Bitmap Bureau have dated their Masters of the Universe beat 'em up for February 2027, with physical pre-orders and a $99.99 Collector's Edition now open.
Limited Run Games has set a release date for its upcoming Masters of the Universe game, announcing that He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will launch on February 4, 2027. The announcement came alongside a new trailer for the title, which has been delayed more than once since it was first revealed.
The game is a side-scrolling beat ' em up developed by Bitmap Bureau, a studio known for its work on licensed retro titles, in collaboration with Mattel. It draws directly on the 1980s animated series, both in its presentation and its roster of characters.
A long road to a release date
Dragon Pearl of Destruction was first announced in August 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch and PC via Steam, with no release date attached at the time. At that point the only detail released was a description of the premise: He-Man, Teela and Man-At-Arms battling across stages to stop Skeletor's ritual from engulfing Eternia in darkness.
The game was subsequently scheduled for April 28, 2026, before being pushed again. Limited Run did not give a detailed public explanation for the changes, but the pattern of movement — from an open 2025 announcement, to a spring 2026 date, and now to February 2027 — has stretched the wait to roughly 18 months since the game was confirmed.
The repeated delays have been a recurring point of discussion among collectors who follow Limited Run's physical releases, since the publisher is better known for limited-print runs of back-catalogue games than for new original titles of this scale. Bitmap Bureau's own track record with licensed properties, including its work connected to the Terminator franchise, has been the main reassurance offered to fans waiting on the title.
What the game involves
Players take control of He-Man, Teela and Man-At-Arms as they work to stop Skeletor from completing an ancient ritual that would plunge Eternia into permanent darkness. Skeletor is joined in the plot by Evil-Lyn. She-Ra is also playable, unlocked after completing a playthrough.
Each character has a distinct moveset: He-Man relies on raw strength, while Teela favours faster staff-based combat. The game is built around character-specific moves, special abilities and magic attacks, including screen-clearing powers.
Battle Cat, He-Man's feline companion, appears as more than set dressing and joins fights alongside the player with its claws unsheathed.
The game spans 13 stages, including locations drawn from the cartoon such as the Royal Palace and Snake Mountain. It supports two-player local cooperative play, allowing a second person to join as a second hero.
Bitmap Bureau describes an expansive roster drawn from the action figure line as well as the show, with TrapJaw, Kobra Khan, Evil-Lyn and Orko among the characters confirmed to appear. Limited Run has characterised it as one of the largest rosters assembled for a Masters of the Universe game.
Editions and pricing
The standard edition is priced at $29.99 or 29.99 euros and will be available digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC via Steam. The inclusion of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One alongside the current-generation consoles broadens the reach beyond what the original 2025 announcement listed.
Physical edition pre-orders are open now through Limited Run Games, which handles distribution for its own releases.
A Collector's Edition at $99.99 includes a collector's box, a steel case, character pin badges, a Power Sword replica, an acrylic standee depicting He-Man riding Battle Cat, and a comic from Dark Horse Comics. Early Collector's Edition pre-orders include a bonus Masters of the Universe Origins He-Man action figure while supplies last.
For buyers who have followed Limited Run's previous releases, the premium tier follows the publisher's established pattern of bundling physical extras with limited print runs. As with prior Limited Run physical editions, those ordering the Collector's Edition should expect production and shipping to take considerably longer than the digital release date suggests.
